The quality of indoor air is an essential factor to be taken into account in the risk assessment of the health and safety of employees and the third parties that may be present in these buildings.

Sampling and method for the determination of biological agents:

For the identification of the biological agents/hazzards in the workplace, a special  air sampling suction  device is used, which is based on a system for the collection of airborne particles according to Anderson’s principle, which is universally accepted and is according to the standard ISO 14698-1 (Clean rooms and associated controlled environments –Bio-contamination control – Part 1: Central Principles and methods).

The device is based on the principle of air crash, which passes through a perforated plate on sterile petri dishes contain microbiological media. After sampling, and an incubation step is followed. The plates incubate in the incubator at a given temperature for a given period of time for each microbiological parameter.

Checks conducted by t PTA Food Lab & Nutritional Services LTD include tests for the identification and enumeration of microorganisms such as: Total viable count – Enterobacteriaceae – Enterococci – Salmonella – Listeria – Staphylococci – Yeasts – fungi etc.

The results of the microbial load expressed in  Colony Forming Units (CFU) per cubic meter of air (m3).

Air hygiene control services apply mainly to:

  • The food industry (which prevent contamination of food and surfaces of biological hazards)
  • Dining places (which prevent contamination of food and surfaces of biological hazards)
  • Hotels (which prevent contamination of food and surfaces of biological hazards)
  • Workplace (which prevent infection of the workers)
